Analysis of age in Skins

After watching the clip from Skins, I can see how age is represented through sound. There are many different sounds in the first few minutes of the clip. There is Diagetic sound, we see this when Tony, a young teenage character who is woken up by his alarm clock. The alarm clock represents that he is a teenager and teenagers normally have an alarm clock so they that they can get up and go to college/school.

After Tony wakes up music starts playing which is not Diagetic, the music goes with the fast pace of editing, and as the images that are being seen, which is Tony doing a little workout the music goes with the image as some people may listen to this type of music whilst working out. The type of music that is being played shows that Tony is a teenager and also Tony is always checking how he looks.

The dialogue from this clip is very teenage-like because the dad is always swearing and using a lot of slang, teenagers mostly tend to use this type of language. The dialogue from the sum is informal but through the language and tone she has, this allows the audience to see a sense of relationship between the characters.

Skins shows that Tony is a semi-stereotypical teenager we see this as his dialogue is formal but he listens to rock music and his room is very tidy, normally teenagers rooms are messy this shows that he is not a full stereotypical teenager.
