Gender is portrayed through the different characters shown, the young teenage boys, middle aged men, teenage girls, and the elderly are all depicted differently. At the start of the clip, we see the wife cooking in the kitchen, this shows a stereotype that women who are housewives cook and clean and home, but we see the husband sitting on the dinner table in a suit like he has come back from work. This shows the stereo of type of him being a rich business man only because he is wearing a suit.
The girl has a typical teenagers bedroom which is messy, and a lot of things in it, so its over crowded. She answers the phone this shows a typical stereotype that teenagers are always on the phone, the programming appears to be old because the telephone is not wireless and has a cord this shows that it is not set in the present day which new technology is a little more advanced.
Yet again another stereotype is when we see a couple shopping for a baby, we then see a wife walking around the shop picking items and putting them in a shopping basket, this shows that women love to go shopping. After that we then see the male character pick something to put in the basket but the female character takes it out n puts it back and picks something more expensive this shows that females are the dominant gender when comes to shopping.

Production; Compare and Contrast '24 Hour Party People's production to that of a Hollywood film
'24 Hour party people' is a British film made by Film Four, which is an independent film production company. This would mean that, compared to a Hollywood film there would be much less synergy and cross media convergence.
'24 Hour party people' have used one main type of synergy during film is music which relates to real music groups from the real world. This is a type of synergy as it promotes and advertises the music soundtracks to the target audience of the movie and also the record company would get a huge share. But in Hollywood films there is a different type of synergy for example in `Spiderman` when Peter Parker is practising his webbing in is room he tries to reach for a `Dr. Pepper` can, which is noticed to be right in the center of the frame to emphasis the product, this also promotes the product making people aware of the drink. A Hollywood film would be more eligible for synergy because it is targeting a more mainstream audience in contrast to an independent films niche audience.
Film 4 can take advantage of cross-media convergence this is because they are all part of the Channel4 Parent company, which means that during the release of this movie, it could be advertised via many different ways for example, Channel 4 news, E4, More4 and also Channel 4 itself. This is an advantage to the company because after the release of this movie it can be broadcasted on these channels without it costing the company for it as Channel 4 is the Parent company.
An independent film production company is more likely to use new media technology as it can save them costs hugely which means they can spend more money on their film. Hollywood has also been effected by new media technology as they now can buy the best possible cameras/software's/programmes out there.
In conclusion I believe that '24 Hour Party People' is very different compared to a Hollywood film company due to the financial differences of the independent film company.

Fantasy Film Making Part 2
The Betrayal
Synergy
Synergy
Due to the fact that me and my partner had £0 for a budget, we were unable to include any synergy in our film.
Synergy £0
Production Budget £250,000
Money Remaining From Stage 1 £0
Current Budget £250,000
Production Budget £250,000
Money Remaining From Stage 1 £0
Current Budget £250,000
The production team that will be used is very amateur. They will be charging £10,000 to produce the film. A positive impact for using the amateur production team is that it will create more verisimilitude. A negative impact is the filming will generally be of poor quality.
The director that will be used in the film is Noel Clarke. He will be charging £100,000 to direct the film. A positive impact for using Noel Clarke is he has directed a film very similar to this before, which will enable him to create more verisimilitude. A negative impact is he is generally inexperienced and he is not well known, so it will be harder for people to hear about the film.
The editor that will be used is a very amateur editor. They will be charging £10,000 to edit the film. A positive impact of using an amateur editor is in some ways it can create more verisimilitude because the editor does not know how to edit professionally, so it will look more realistic.
We will be using no special effects in our film because it wouldn't look like a proper street film and the reality of the film will be taken away.
The total cost for the crew is £120,000
The total cost for the crew is £120,000
The camera's that will be used are Sony DSR-PD150's. We will be buying 2 cameras, at the cost of £3000. A positive effect of using these cameras are they are cheap and maneuverable. A negative effect is that the cameras don't have great quality compared to other high-tec cameras. We will be buying 100 tapes for our camera, which costs £330. A positive effect of this is that it is very cheap. A negative effect is that they are poor quality.
The editing software we will be using is Final Cut Pro. This will cost £800. A positive effect of using this editing software is we will be able to edit the film. A negative effect is that it is a big loss of money.
No special effects will be used in the film. A positive effect of this is it looks more realistic.

Analysis of Gender in 'Cold Feet'
This is an analysis of Gender in 'Cold Feet'. It is based on a four minute clip from the TV drama. After watching a clip of Cold Feet I can see a clear stereotype between males and females. One main stereotype being that females are the gender that stay at home and cook, whilst males go to work and earn money for the family.
The actors/actresses are part of the mise-en-scene of the TV drama. In the first scene we see the wife in the kitchen cooking. This shows a major stereotype which states women should stay home and cook, while the men go out and work. The male character is showed to have just come back from work and sitting at the table waiting for dinner, this shows that the mail character is the head of the family, whilst the female characters positioning in the kitchen would represent her to be the housewife. This type of stereotype is negative because it is not likely for the male of the relationship to be working and the female to be in the kitchen cooking dinner at this day and age.
We see another stereotype in this scene. The wife is walking around the supermarket picking up items and putting them into the shopping basket which her husband is holding. This shows one of the most typican stereo types; when men hold women's bags whilst they are shopping. Then afterwards the husband picks up a product, and the wife picks up the same product but even bigger and more expensive. This causes the husband to complain about the price of the product, this is a stereotype because the males are usually the ones to try to get the cheaper product but the females want the best possible product to satisfy their needs. Men see this stereotype as negative but women see it obviously as a positive.
The representation of gender is shown through mise-en-scene. Most of the representations in this clip have been inaccurate and old fashioned e.g. a common housewife figure.

Sound
Analysis of age in Skins
After watching the clip from Skins, I can see how age is represented through sound. There are many different sounds in the first few minutes of the clip. There is Diagetic sound, we see this when Tony, a young teenage character who is woken up by his alarm clock. The alarm clock represents that he is a teenager and teenagers normally have an alarm clock so they that they can get up and go to college/school.
After Tony wakes up music starts playing which is not Diagetic, the music goes with the fast pace of editing, and as the images that are being seen, which is Tony doing a little workout the music goes with the image as some people may listen to this type of music whilst working out. The type of music that is being played shows that Tony is a teenager and also Tony is always checking how he looks.
The dialogue from this clip is very teenage-like because the dad is always swearing and using a lot of slang, teenagers mostly tend to use this type of language. The dialogue from the sum is informal but through the language and tone she has, this allows the audience to see a sense of relationship between the characters.
Skins shows that Tony is a semi-stereotypical teenager we see this as his dialogue is formal but he listens to rock music and his room is very tidy, normally teenagers rooms are messy this shows that he is not a full stereotypical teenager.

New Technology In Production
The initial editing of all films was done with a positive copy of the film negative called a film workprint by physically cutting and pasting together pieces of film, this was done by using a splicer and threading the film on a machine with a viewer. In the past, the use of a film positive allowed the editor to do as much experimenting as they want, without the risk of damaging the original copy. This basically shows how editing was complete 30 years ago.
Digital technology is smaller, more efficient sample of data storage compared to analogue which takes longer to transmit information. There is no need to rely on other machines apart from a computer is which is quite simple to use and special editing softwares such as I-Movie and Avid, all these have revolutionalised the ability to edit films easily. It would be much harder to edit movies 30 years ago as there were no special softwares of this kind available, now more diverse techniques can be used on how to link each scene/shot together to create the perfect movie.
Most or nearly all production companies use this type of editing to create the visual and and audio to suit there films perspective.
Editing has impacted on audiences by helping them to keep them interested in a film, which is done by editing out any unnecessary parts in the film, so scenes do not drag on for a long period of time so that the audience do not get bored. Editing these days have become very simple and easy to use, nowadays anybody can do by having a little practise with a particular software this can allow audiences to create their own films and could also put what they have made into the film industry.

Channel 4 Remit
Both companies appeal to the interests of a culturally diverse society by showing media which a lot of people would like to watch. A similarity between Channel 4 and an independent film production company is that they demonstrate innovation (means when something new or different is produced or introduced), and they experiment with different narratives.
Channel 4 had the ability to sell their own advertising space and the programmes on the channel became very unique. A few acquisitioned programmes have been introduced, such as ER and friends.
Channel 4 has lead to innovations in British Television because they started showing documentaries. Channel 4 also introduced some controversial programmes with scenes of homosexuality when this was produced this led other channels to show programmes of similar material as they now know that they wont be the only people showing it.
Channel 4 has strayed from the remit by not including educational programmes of that nature. Channel 4 does show documentaries but this does not mean that they are educational there is a programme called "the worlds biggest penis" I feel that this programme has no educational feature what so ever.
I feel that the factual programming on channel 4 today does not have the same educational value as it did 25 years ago. 25 years ago Channel 4 did have some educational programmes but now I feel that there are no educational programmes ever shown on Channel 4.
Channel 4's ownership of Film 4 Productions is an example of vertical integration because Chanel 4 does not show any of its own programmes, Channel 4 either pay a company for the rights to broadcast the programme or they pay for a company to produce the shows.
